Using external flash units
The ISO flash shoe on the Leica TL allows you to use more power-
ful external flash units. We particularly recommend using Leica
flash units.

Attaching the flash unit

Turn off the camera and the flash unit.

Slide back the cover that protects the flash shoe on the camera
when not in use.

When attaching, make sure that the foot is fully inserted into the
flash shoe and, if available, secured against falling out with the
clamping nut. This is important because changes of position in
the flash shoe can break the required contacts, causing malfunc-
tions.
As soon as an external flash unit is attached, the preset flash
modes with pre-flash function (
otherwise identical modes without pre-flash ( / / ) and dis-
played accordingly. However, when the flash unit is removed the
camera reverts to the set mode.
